Professor Roza Adany, the founding dean of the Faculty of Public Health at the University of Debrecen and former chairperson of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), currently works as a full professor at the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary and one of the leaders of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Ageing. She works as a research professor in the HUN-REN-UD Public Health Research Group in the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at the University of Debrecen. She is also Vice-Chair of the Healthy Ageing Section of the European Public Health Association. Over the past decades, her scientific research has achieved international significance in the identification of susceptibility biomarkers of cardiometabolic diseases, the investigation of the structure and causes of premature mortality in the European population, and the evaluation of interventions aimed at improving the efficiency of prevention. She has published over 500 scientific papers, achieving a cumulative impact factor of over 800 and receiving more than 12,000 citations in international literature. She has received several prestigious Hungarian and international awards in acknowledgement of her work. These include the Awards of the European Regional Directors of the WHO for outstanding contribution to improving the health of the European population, the H. R. Leavell Award of the World Federation of Public Health Associations, and the “Distinguished Scientist Award” of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science.
