Caroline Costongs is the Director of EuroHealthNet, leading a European partnership of over 85 organisations, including many national public health institutes. She advances policies, research, and practices in the EU to reduce health inequalities and address the social, environmental, and commercial determinants of health. Caroline represents EuroHealthNet in EU policy fora, advises on EU projects such as the Joint Action Prevent NCDs, and oversees the organisation’s collaboration with WHO/Europe. She is Commissioner of the Lancet Commission on the European Health Union, serves on the European Health Forum Gastein’s Advisory Committee, the Advisory Group of the Wellbeing Economy Forum in Iceland and the International Conference Council for the European Public Health Conference. Caroline played a leading role in establishing EuroHealthNet since 2000 and holds an MSc in Public Health from the University of Maastricht. Her previous work (1996-1999) included project coordination at the Netherlands Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation (NOC*NSF) linking health and physical activity.
