Michal Stofko is State Secretary at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, a position he has held since November 2023. He is an experienced healthcare policy and management professional with a strong background in public administration, strategic planning, and healthcare system development. Prior to his current role, he served as President of the Association of Health Insurance Companies of the Slovak Republic and worked as a consultant on healthcare systems. Earlier in his career, he held analytical and management positions at the Ministry of Health, including within the Institute of Health Policy, and gained experience in the health insurance and pharmaceutical sectors at the General Health Insurance Company (Vseobecna zdravotna poistovna) and Novartis Slovakia. His professional work has focused particularly on healthcare financing, hospital network optimization, evidence-based policy development, and systemic reforms of the Slovak healthcare sector. He holds an Ing and a PhD from the University of Economics in Bratislava, with his doctoral research focused on economic impact studies.
