Dr Beatrix Oroszi, MD, MSc, PhD, is the Chief Medical Officer of Hungary at the National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK), Hungary’s national public health authority. She is a physician, epidemiologist, and public health expert with extensive experience in infectious disease prevention, epidemiological surveillance, health security, and evidence-based public health policy. She graduated from Semmelweis University, specialised in public health and epidemiology, earned an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and received her PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Debrecen. Throughout her career, Dr Oroszi has held senior positions in Hungarian public health, including Acting Director General of the former National Center for Epidemiology, and Deputy Director of the Centre for Epidemiology and Surveillance at Semmelweis University. Her work focuses on infectious disease epidemiology, vaccination and vaccine effectiveness, surveillance, pandemic preparedness, mathematical modelling and resilient public health systems. She has contributed to major national and European public health initiatives and previously served as an alternate member of the Management Board of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
