Since August 2025, Matthias Bachmann heads the Swiss Contribution Offices in Bratislava and Prague, overseeing the second Swiss contribution (2019–2029) to selected EU member states. The Slovak–Swiss cooperation programme includes a comprehensive health promotion initiative that supports the efforts of the Ministry of Health, public health authorities, as well as regions and cities across Slovakia. The programme focuses on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Previously, Matthias worked with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Federal Department of Foreign Affairs) in Bern as a Senior Policy Advisor on climate change, with the OECD’s G7/G20 Sherpa team in Paris, the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in New York, and in Swiss representations in Afghanistan, Peru and Venezuela.
