Vera Araujo-Soares is a Professor of Prevention, leading the Division of Prevention at the Center for Preventive Medicine and Digital Health (CPD), Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University. From September 2020 to December 2022, she worked at the Health Technology and Services Research, BMS Faculty, University of Twente, The Netherlands, as Professor of Health Psychology and Planetary Health.
From 2010 to 2020, she worked at Newcastle University (UK), where she held various internal, national, and international leadership roles. She was the Impact Lead for the Population Health Sciences Institute, representing the institute on matters of impact and preparing impact case examples for the national Research Excellence Framework evaluation.
Regionally, Prof. Araujo-Soares led the Behaviour Change programme in Fuse, the UK Clinical Research Collaboration Centre of Excellence for Translational Research in Public Health (http://www.fuse.ac.uk), funded by the UK Medical Research Council. Internationally, she served as the 14th elected President of the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS; www.ehps.net; 2018–2020) and, from 2020 to 2022, held the Executive Committee position as Past President.
